Like most girls, the one who has always been alone, was emotionally damaged at some point in her past. People assume that her scars can’t possibly be more than skin deep if she's never been in a committed relationship.
However, loving someone who was never entirely hers is the exact reason she is in this place today. There will always be a little part of her left to wonder, “what if?” And those words will haunt her on repeat for a while.
Her world turned dark for a minute and she lost herself in a whirlwind of emotions.
Don’t worry though, she healed. She’s incredibly strong and experiences like this one only create a thicker shield around her heart.
Her walls will be built up higher, and this time will be much more challenging for intruders to break down. She’s proud of these walls because they are hers. She created them and feels safe within them.
Her life becomes something that is entirely drafted by what she desires. She lives the way she wants to, does things that make her happy, and she leaves behind the burden of looking for love.
She refocuses her attention on her career, her family, and her friends, because these aspects of her life are the foundation of everything she’s longing to become.
Being alone becomes something she’s good at. It becomes a part of herself that she’s confident in.
When someone wants to know her, they pose as a threat to everything she’s worked so hard to build. Her life, her heart, and her walls took such a long time to become the indestructible beauty they are today.
Her courage wavers in the thought of having to rebuild them all again.
Getting through the walls of the girl who has always been alone is going to take time. Maybe even a long time. She will push you away and shut you out a thousand times before you can even chip away at one piece of her fortress.
In reality, she knows that nobody has that kind of time and patience. It’s sill, really. But not to her.
Her security is her first priority. It’s been that way for quite some time now. She has no intentions of letting herself feel again, because that would mean that she is giving herself the chance to hurt again.
So, if you know this girl who has always been alone, this is why she is happy where she is. Stop feeling sorry for her, she’s okay.
